How often should you groom your dog?
It depends on coat, breed and lifestyle. Here is a simple guide.
Dogs with continuously growing coats, like poodles, doodles and Shih Tzus, need a groom every four to eight weeks to prevent mats. Short-coated dogs do well with a bath every six to eight weeks.
Signs it is time
Hair that covers the eyes, tangles behind the ears, a strong odour or nails that click on the floor are all signs your dog is due.
Between grooms
Brush a few times a week with a slicker brush and a comb. Brushing prevents most mats and lets you check the skin.
